One of the latest projects by Rob Zombie. I really don’t know much about him with regards to his music, but I know he loves the horror genre. But just because you love it, doesn’t mean you are any good at actually producing something.I made two mistakes. One is I did not check rating on Lords of Salem. I still believe people should decide for themselves, but when I see an overall dislike for something by the general public, something is a amiss. My second mistake is catching part of Lords of Salem in the middle while it was playing on cable. I thought it looked like something to check out. The unfortunate part is I caught one of the few scenes that made sense. Listen, there is a vinyl record they play with bizarre music and not only does it hypnotize women, apparently it was an invitation for witches to come back. Believe me, I’m stretching here trying to make sense of this film.Lords of Salem is a mess. While there is a creepy atmosphere throughout, it just becomes mind numbingly boring with a heavy dose of tilting the head to side asking what the hell is going on. Zombie relies too much on creating iconic scenes vs telling an engaging story or even a horror story. There is zero scares, zero tension. Apparently he uses his wife Sheri Moon Zombie in most of his films and in this case works against the film. Mainly because she’s a distraction. First we really don’t see her face because she is hidden behind thick dark glasses and that awful dreadlock hair. And she sleeps, literally sleeps through a great deal of the movie. It’s an odd movie and would not recommend this anyone
