Admittedly I sat down with Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit with zero anticipation. It’s like someone handed me the DVD and said watch it. It’s been over 12 years since the last flick and honestly, I don’t remember anything.Well, I almost turned it off because of the boring and cliché ridden story. Wow, I could have wrote this. Uh, next scene we will have the cursory car chase. Let’s throw a motorcycle chase in as well. There were several eye rolling moments, that really surprised me. Because the story went off the rails several times. For example, I’m not giving away any spoilers, but when Jack Ryan's wife finds out he works for the CIA, she wants to be involved in the ongoing espionage. What? And she does and all kinds of hell breaks loose. Eye rolling. As someone else mentioned, this reboot appears to be ‘wannabe’ Mission Impossible. And you know what, Chris Pine doesn’t do much for me. Not in the sense of a leading man. I just didn’t buy into him and his character. I found Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit devoid of freshness and excitement and wallowing in mundane movie cliché’s. I’ve already forgotten just about everything in this flick.Complete waste of time
